Persistence
Persistence is continuing to push even when you want to give up, or you keeping going until you find a solution. In the summer transitioning from 9th to 10th grade, I decided to try golf because I hadn’t played a sport since middle school, and my local school was looking for more players. I had never played golf prior to my first practice with the team, but I enjoyed it and thought I should try playing for the year. Once tryouts came around, I ended up have the highest score on junior varsity. However, after my first match, I received the lowest score on my team. We had practice multiple times a week throughout the school year. Therefore, I had dozens opportunities to practice. Even if I played bad on one hole, I would try to be optimistic for the next hole because it’s an opportunity to start over and better your score. I truly persisted while playing golf because even when I received bad scores, I decided to keep playing and learn to get better instead of just giving up.
